2016 I started with a road trip to a magical place. Since it was beginning of January we only had daylight for a few hours. At 1pm sunset started. At 4pm it was already very dark.

To see the northern lights (aurora borealis) it has to be very cold, no clouds, high solar activity, and very dark (outside of a city). The moment you finally see them is indescribable! I had goose bumps and tears in my eyes. We have been very lucky that we saw them twice in just 5 days. Sometimes it was minus 20 degree outside. Once we went out of the car just to feel the cold. No coat of course 😉 Norway is one of the most expensive countries. Even for people from Switzerland.
