Have you ever tried black quinoa? The past two years I spent in Central and South America I ate quinoa for breakfast every day. Quinoa has a lot of health benefits and is one of the world’s healthiest foods (protein, manganese, magnesium, phosphorus). Back in Europe I switched back to oats. I thought quinoa only grows in South America. Until my mum ordered from an organic farm (biofarm.ch) quinoa grown in Switzerland. I was amazed.
People often ask me how I stay in shape. Especially while travelling. I have realised that since I eat plant-based this is very easy for me. No 1-2 hours of exercise every day like I did in the past. I also stopped eating any added sugar over two years ago. Since then I didn’t have any hunger attack anymore. I learnt to listen to my body and eat as much as I feel like. Yoga and HIIT helps me to stay flexible and fit. It is very important to train our muscles. Something I learnt the hard way eight years ago when I had a lumbago. Who knows, maybe I wouldn’t have started yoga that time if I wouldn’t have been in such a big pain. To get to the point: I do care what I put into my body. I try to balance all my meals. Enough proteins (1 g of protein per kg of body weight per day), vitamins, healthy fats (max. 30% of your energy demand) and minerals. Have a nice weekend 🙂
